From the dream of former President Juscelino Kubitschek, the reality of a pre-conceived and planned city, a meeting of lines and curves that permeate blocks and avenues, making the capital of Brazil an open-air museum.Brasília, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, was designed and developed by urban planner Lúcio Costa, and with its numerous modern buildings that the city breathes designed by Oscar Niemeyer, a Pritzker Architecture Prize award winner. It is described as Outstanding Universal Value. Lúcio Costa designed the city in the middle of the Cerrado (Brazilian biome characterized by drought and medium-sized vegetation and flat terrain) in the shape of an airplane, with two axes that cross and circulate. To help cool down the hot days of the year, unnatural Paranoá lake was created with the construction of the city and serves as a place for several leisure options.

WHERE TO STAY:
Do you want to sleep in a typical modernist building, designed by Oscar Niemeyer? Brasília Palace was opened in 1958, two years before the official opening of the country’s capital. Curiosity: The hotel received distinguished guests such as André Malraux, Jean Paul Sartre, Indira Gandhi, Queen Elizabeth II, Dwight Eisenhower and Che Guevara. In 1978 it was consumed by a fire and, in 2003, it was reopened completely renovated.Brasília is a planned city divided into some sectors, such as the Banking Sector, the Commercial Sector, the Hospital Sector, the Entertainment Sector, among others. And with that there is also the Hotel Sector, in the northern and southern parts (SHS and SHN) of its pilot plan, and with easy access and walking distance from the main tourist points of the city. There are also quieter options in the Northern Tourism Hotel Sector (SHTN), on the edge of Lake Paranoá, but which requires some road transport to the city’s attractions.
